HTML Guard offers easy-to-use copy protection for website content. Among other things, the software can encrypt HTML code, lock the right-click menu, disable text selection, and block the browser`s print function.
Features: The ease of copying content off the web is a problem for website owners and designers. It is easy to grab images, text or code snippets from a web page and put them online somewhere else. HTML Guard offers a powerful and easy-to-use solution to fight web plagiarism. The software can prevent people from saving a website`s content in whole or in part. It can encrypt HTML code, block right click saving, disable text selection, and restrict the browser`s print function. The protection applied by HTML Guard is based on modifying and extending the existing source code of a website. Pages protected with the software remain standards compliant. You can still view them in any JavaScript-enabled web browser.
Scramble the code of your HTML files without affecting their display in the browser. Various settings let you select exactly the parts of your pages that you want to be obfuscated. For instance, you can just have the program protect your email addresses from being harvested by spammers, or apply encryption to your entire website. HTML Guard removes space characters, line breaks, comments, and other space characters that are not really required except for readability. This speeds up downloading and makes the code less readable and harder to copy. Several other features can be disabled that makes it really hard to copy stuff off of your site. These include text & image selection, disabling image toolbar in Internet explorer, print functionality, "save as…", link display in status bar, Adobe`s web capture, block common browser shortcuts, disable offline viewing and disable being indexed and or cached by search engines.
Overall: Good handy program. Some of the measures may be a little extreme. For example disabling indexing may defeat the whole marketing/driving traffic to your site.
